Venus Williams is done with tennis, now an author of “Come to Win”

I think when a sports legend writes a book it meas they are washed up and can’t make a living from their chosen sport anymore.  Obviously, getting a book deal is a great way to bring in some more cash.  You think Lindsay Lohan would have learned from this instead of selling all of her free stuff on eBay.  Here is my proof – The book, “Come to Win” went on sale June 29, the same day Venus Williams lost in straight sets to unseeded Bulgarian Tsvetana Pironkova in the Wimbledon quarterfinals, her earliest exit in four years.  Take a look at Sarah Palin, when she knew she wouldn’tbecome a part of Presidential history she released a book that made her oodles of money on the side.

Of course in the case of Andre Agassi he wrote a book, “Open: An Autobiography” to help him cope and deal with his drug use from the early years when he was such a role model.  The extra money he made went towards his therapy deal helping him deal with the old days of tennis glory?

Of course the other route is to become some motivational speaker like Lance Armstrong.  He charges over $200K per speaking engagement on subjects like “From the Tour de France to the Boardroom: Pushing Your Team to Victory”.  What do you think about sports legends writing books and booking speaking engagements?  Is this a sign they are washed up OR just finding additional revenue streams for their fame?

Former #1 tennis player Roger Federer has announced that his girlfriend Mirka Vavrinec is pregnant with their first child. The 30-year-old Vavrinec, who also serves as Federer’s manager, is a former WTA Tour player.

“This is a dream come true for us,” the 27-year-old said in a post to visitors on his website on Thursday. “We love children and we are looking forward to being parents for the first time. Mirka is feeling great and everything is going well.” Ironically in 2007 he was quoted as saying, “Thoughts like family and marriage cross my mind more and more often.” I guess so, since you seem to at least have started the family part.

He also stated his greatest fear was, “accidents, illness or injuries to my loved ones and myself.”. So are you afraid now that Mirka is pregnant, I am guessing it was an accident?

The baby is due in the summer, he added. The couple met at the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000.

Unlike Levi Johnston, Federer is not saying he’s going to marry the girl. As you know recently Sarah Palin’s teenage daughter Bristol and her boyfriend, Levi Johnston, have called off their engagement, about 10 weeks after the birth of their child. Federer has not moral feelings to marry a woman he does not love. He is her shawty, a friend with benefits.

Tennis legend supporting Sarah Palin?

Billie Jean King calling Palin “awesome,” “honest,” and “real” seems to catch us all by surprise around here. It seems the American public is flip son the topic of what Palin is about. King is just expressing the irony of how everyone (both Democrats and Republicans) keeps flip-flopping. “No to Hillary Clinton because she has too much experience! No to Sarah Palin because she has too little experience!”

It seems the article misrepresented what King was trying to say. “Last Friday, reporter from the New York Observer asked me what I thought about Sarah Palin. I told her I thought Sarah Palin was honest and real. I believe that.”

The statement went on, “But, that in no way should be viewed as an endorsement of any kind.”

Added the statement, “I oppose many of the positions of Sarah Palin, particularly those tied to the LGBT community.”

I guess that clarifies where Billie Jean King stands.  What about Palin posing in Vogue, that’s a whole new way to get publicity.  I give her points on that. What’s up with vendor running out of badges with Mrs Palin’s picture and the legend: “Coldest State, Hottest Governor.”
